love around us
i have read the last leaf written by o henry. i couldn’t understand old behrman’s masterpiece until i met a gentleman that day.
last year, i took a speech training class in my spare time. before graduation, our teacher gave us an assignment of making a speech in public places. what a surprising test! it made me feel nervous and excited.
i and the other three decided to make a speech in the subway. it would be a perfect place to test our courage. however, when we stepped into the train, we became more and more nervous. although the passengers in the carriage were not so many, we still felt shy to begin our speech.
“can i act well? will they think i am crazy? will they laugh at me?” with all these questions, i forced myself to step out and stood in the middle of the carriage. my heart was pounding quickly, and my teeth were chattering. after taking a deep breath, i tried to make a self-introduction first. i found my pronunciation was not clear because of tension. no one paid attention to me except one, a foreigner! he was about 50 years old, wearing a blue suit and holding a briefcase. maybe he is a businessman. he stood in front of me. while noticing i was looking at him, he gave me a smile, with kindness, support, and encouragement. i felt quite warm in my heart and relaxed myself. i didn’t think he could understand my chinese speech, but his smile and attention gave me strength at that moment. i calmed myself down and continued. gradually, i found back the fun of speech. my voice was louder and louder because of confidence. more and more people began to look in my direction. the gentleman listened to me attentively throughout my speech. when i finished my speech, he clapped his hands to me. then, the passengers in the carriage applaud, too. i couldn’t help crying and dropping my tears. the train came to a stop at one station. the gentleman walked to me, gave me a big hug, as my father, and said, “you are great! come on!” after saying this, he got out of the train, before i could say thank-you to him.
in my opinion, love can be the support from a stranger, like the last leaf drawn by old behrman, like the smile given by the foreign gentleman. terri once said, “love is in front and all around us.” that is, love has no boundaries as long as you would like to give with sincerity.

Good morning teachers and fellow students. Today we would like to introduce a few favorite books to you.
My favorite book is(Italian: Cuore). This is a diary written by an Italian boy Enrico. The diary is about his life and study. It included various touching stories that happened around Enrico, the mottos taught by his parents, as well as the wonderful ten "monthly" stories told by his teacher during the class. Every word in the chapter describes the word "love". From patriotism to friendship, and to the love between parents and child -- really touching.
This novel taught me how to love, and how to learn from love. I really like this book very much. How about you? What is your favorite book?
My favorite book is. Have you read it before?
Oh, I haven’t read this book before. What is it about?
Well, it is a story of a rich girl who maintained her noble character after the bankruptcy of her father. The story is happy ending.
Can you tell us why you love this book so much?
Sure. It is because the story taught us to be brave and to face the challenges and difficulties with courage. I am deeply impressed by the strength and perseverance of the little princess in the story. I have decided to learn from her from now on.
Oh I see, the story sounds very good. I cannot wait to read this book as well.

As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr. James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England. In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon's tooth. This is a true story.
65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao. Then he was only 5 years old. He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon. He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.
In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave. On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon's mouth.
He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life. It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older. Finally he decided to put right his childish error. In 20xx, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies. He received a warm wele.
When James visited Qingdao, I acpanied him all the time and reported on his visit. I was deeply touched by his honesty. It has taught me a lot. I think to err is human. The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one's error.
Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour. So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do. I would like to say to all of my friends: Let's be honest people of good moral character.
Thank you.

Ching Ming Festival is one of the 24 segments in Chinese calendar. It normally falls on the 4th or 5th of April because it's depended on the Cold Food Day (105 days after previous year's winter solstice). In the old days, Ching Ming was celebrated 3 days after the Cold Food Day but Cold Food Day was shorted to one day and then abandoned. So nowadays, Ching Ming and Cold Food Day fall on the same day although no one celebrate Cold Food Day any more. Ching Ming is also known as Remembrance of Ancestors Day or 'Grave Sweeping Day'.
On Ching Ming, the whole family will visit their ancestors or relatives' graves. I remember when I was little, we had to catch a diesel train to north New Territories to do grave sweeping. As a kid, I always find it scary when the train go through the dark tunnel of the hill. But there is no more diesel trains running in HK now. If you want to see one, you can find it in the Railway museum in Tai Po Market.
We have to carry incense sticks, joss sticks and paper offerings like paper money and paper clothes and any other paper accessories, depends how serious your family is with this thing. All paper offerings will be burnt for they believe that the relatives can receive the goods and even 'money' this way. As a kid, I am always asked to carry a bunch of flower. Chrysanthemum is normally chosen so don't give Chrysanthemum to Chinese people as gift coz it's a funeral/grave sweeping use flowers, although some households may find it to display home on normal days.
Food like roasted suckling pig, steamed chicken, fruit and wine are offered during the ceremony. Then we will eat it up after the worshipping.
There were children in scruffy looking t-shirts offering you a red piece of paper and a stone to put on top of the grave stone. My family never explains to me what it's for but I suppose red always implies luck so maybe it helps to bring good luck to the dead person? In return, you are supposed to give a few dollars to the children to buy this red paper.
There were also poor teenagers or adults carrying sickles and offer weeding services around the grave stones. As our family visits the graves twice a year (Ching Ming and Chung Yeung), we can manage with a pair of scissors!
Some superstitious people even carry willow branches with them or hang it on the front door. It's believed that willows help to get rid of evil spirits, when Ching Ming is one of the days that ghosts and spirits wander about.

In the past, we just take it for granted that a teacher's purpose is to teach students, he knew and solve all their problems. As a result, students can in this case the MOTOROLA's discretion. As a result, the students gradually lost the ability to learn itself. In addition, they are only equipped with the professor in class for each question, may suddenly appear in the same judgment. Of course, they will find their own knowledge to solve practical problems.
So, now is to change teaching methods. A teacher's goal is to help students to develop, not only the ability of learning, but their own skills, in every aspect of their judgment. That doesn't need to seek help from teachers when meeting with difficulties for students. First of all is to cultivate students' ability to make any problem, correct judgment and overcome the difficulties.
All in all, teaching is the goal of liberation, but MOTOROLA bound to make the right judgment inherent power of students.

ladies and gentlemen , good morning! i’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is “youth”. i hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.
first i want to ask you some questions:
1、do you know what is youth?
2、how do you master your youth?
youth
youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .
youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.
years wrinkle the skin , but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul . worry , fear , self –distrust bows the heart and turns the spirit back to dust .
whether 60 of 16 , there is in every human being ‘s heart the lure of wonders, the unfailing childlike appetite of what’s next and the joy of the game of living . in the center of your heart and my heart there’s a wireless station : so long as it receives messages of beauty , hope ,cheer, courage and power from men and from the infinite, so long as you are young .
when the aerials are down , and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old ,even at 20 , but as long as your aerials are up ,to catch waves of optimism , there is hope you may die young at 80.
thank you!
Hi everybody。
Beauty usually refers to what appeals to the eye。 A nice and well built girl is regarded as beautiful。 A bunch of vigorous flowers are also considered as beautiful。 A splendid waterfall ing down from a mountain is as well looked on as beautiful。
Beauty also refers to what appeals to the mind。 The virtue of the Chinese nation-industry and bravery are taken as beautiful, because it helped to produce such a magnificent culture in the world。 Einstein's theory of relativity is also perceived as beautiful, for it e_plains many natural phenomena so perfectly。
Beauty is around us。 If you keep an eye or pay some attention, it is never difficult to find something beautiful somewhere about you。 Wonderful natural spots, historical relics, fine arts, splendid buildings, and kind people are just a few inches away。
thank you。
The name Christmas is short for“Christ’s Mass”.A Mass is a kind of Church service.Christmas is a religious festivaI.It is the day we celebrate as the birthday of Jesus.
There are special Christmas services in Christian churches all over the world. But many of the festivities of Christmas do not have anything to do with religion.Exchanging gifts and sending Christmas cards are the modern ways of celebrating the Christmas In the world.
The birth of Jesus had a story:In Nazareth,a city of Galilee. The vIrgin’s name was Mary was betrothed to Joseph. Before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.Joseph, her husband was minded to put her away secretly. While he thought about these things,Gabriel,an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a
dream and told hIm did not be afraid to take Mary as wife. And Mary, will bring forth a Son,and he shall call his name,Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
Before Jesus births.Joseph and Mary came to Quintus was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.Joseph also went up out of Galilee.out of the city of Nazareth.into Judea,to the city of David.which iS called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and of the lineage of David,to be registered with Mary。his betrothed wife, who was with child. So it was that while they were there.the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son.and wrapped him in swaddling cloths.and laid him in a manger.because there was no room for them jn the jnn.And that.Christmas IS the feast of the nativity of Jesus.is on 25th,December every year.
But nobody know the acluaI birthday of Jesus. And the Christmas has become popular when Christmas cards appeared in 1 846 and the concept of a joily Santa Claus was first made popular in nineteenth Century.
Jerry was the kind of guy you love to hate. He was always in a good mood and always had something positive to say. When someone asked him how he was doing, he would reply, "If I were any better, I would be twins!"
He was a unique manager because he had several waiters who had followed him around from restaurant to restaurant. The reason the waiters followed Jerry was because of his attitude. He was a natural motivator. If an employee was having a bad day, Jerry was there telling the employee how to look on the positive side of the situation.
Seeing this style really made me curious, so one day I went up to Jerry and asked him, "I don't get it! You can't be a positive person all of the time. How do you do it?"
Jerry replied, "Each morning I wake up and say to myself, 'Jerry, you have two choices today. You can choose to be in a good mood or you can choose to be in a bad mood.' I choose to be in a good mood. Each time something bad happens, I can choose to be a victim or I can choose to learn from it. I choose to learn from it. Every time someone comes to me complaining, I can choose to accept their complaining or I can point out the positive side of life. I choose the positive side of life."
"Yeah, right, it's not that easy," I protested.
"Yes, it is," Jerry said. "Life is all about choices. When you cut away all the junk, every situation is a choice. You choose how you react to situations. You choose how people will affect your mood. You choose to be in a good mood or bad mood. The bottom line: It's your choice how you live life."
I reflected on what Jerry said. Soon thereafter, I left the restaurant industry to start my own business. We lost touch, but I often thought about him when I made a choice about life instead of reacting to it.
Several years later, I heard that Jerry did something you are never supposed to do in a restaurant business: he left the back door open one morning and was held up at gunpoint by three armed robbers. While trying to open the safe, his hand, shaking from nervousness, slipped off the combination. The robbers panicked and shot him.
Luckily, Jerry was found relatively quickly and rushed to the local trauma center. After 18 hours of surgery and weeks of intensive care, Jerry was released from the hospital with fragments of the bullets still in his body.
I saw Jerry about six months after the accident. When I asked him how he was, he replied, "If I were any better, I'd be twins. Wanna see my scars?" I declined to see his wounds, but did ask him what had gone through his mind as the robbery took place.
"The first thing that went through my mind was that I should have locked the back door," Jerry replied. "Then, as I lay on the floor, I remembered that I had two choices: I could choose to live, or I could choose to die. I chose to live."
"Weren't you scared? Did you lose consciousness?" I asked.
Jerry continued, "The paramedics were great. They kept telling me I was going to be fine. But when they wheeled me into the emergency room and I saw the expressions on the faces of the doctors and nurses, I got really scared. In their eyes, I read, "He's a dead man." "I knew I needed to take action."
"What did you do?" I asked.
"Well, there was a big, burly nurse shouting questions at me," said Jerry. "She asked if I was allergic to anything. "Yes," I replied. The doctors and nurses stopped working as they waited for my reply. I took a deep breath and yelled, "Bullets!"
Over their laughter, I told them. "I am choosing to live. Operate on me as if I am alive, not dead."
Jerry lived thanks to the skill of his doctors, but also because of his amazing attitude. I learned from him that every day we have the choice to live fully.
Attitude, after all, is everything.
hello everyone!
Students, guests , teachers and Honorable Judges
Good morning !
my great pleasure to share my dream with you today。 my dream is to become a teacher。。。。
As the whole world has its boundaries, limits and freedom coexist in our life。 I don’t expect complete freedom, which is impossible。 I simply have a dream that supports my life。
I dream that one day, I could escape from the deep sea of thick schoolbooks and lead my own life。 With my favorite fictions, I lie freely on the green grass, smelling the spring, listening to the wind singing, breathing the fresh and cool air and dissolve my soul in nature at last。 Simple and short enjoyment can bring me great satisfaction。
I dream that one day the adults could throw their prejudice of comic and cartoon away。 They could keep a lovely heart that can share sorrow and happiness with us while watching cartoon or doing personal things。 That’s the real communication of heart to heart。
I have the belief that my dreams should come true。 I am looking forward to some day coming when I am like a proud eagle, which flies to the blue and vast sky。
Thank you!
At every stage of our lives we make decisions that will profoundly influence the lives of the people we're going to become, and then when we become those people, we're not always thrilled with the decisions we made. So young people pay good money to get tattoos removed that teenagers paid good money to get. Middle-aged people rushed to divorce people who young adults rushed to marry. Older adults work hard to lose what middle-aged adults worked hard to gain. On and on and on. The question is, as a psychologist, that fascinates me is, why do we make decisions that our future selves so often regret?
Now, I think one of the reasons -- I'll try to convince you today — is that we have a fundamental misconception about the power of time. Every one of you knows that the rate of change slows over the human lifespan, that your children seem to change by the minute but your parents seem to change by the year. But what is the name of this magical point in life where change suddenly goes from a gallop to a crawl? Is it teenage years? Is it middle age? Is it old age? The answer, it turns out, for most people, is now, wherever now happens to be. What I want to convince you today is that all of us are walking around with an illusion, an illusion that history, our personal history, has just come to an end, that we have just recently become the people that we were always meant to be and will be for the rest of our lives.
Let me give you some data to back up that claim. So here's a study of change in people's personal values over time. Here's three values. Everybody here holds all of them, but you probably know that as you grow, as you age, the balance of these values shifts. So how does it do so? Well, we asked thousands of people. We asked half of them to predict for us how much their values would change in the next 10 years, and the others to tell us how much their values had changed in the last 10 years. And this enabled us to do a really interesting kind of analysis, because it allowed us to compare the predictions of people, say, 18 years old, to the reports of people who were 28, and to do that kind of analysis throughout the lifespan.
Here's what we found. First of all, you are right, change does slow down as we age, but second, you're wrong, because it doesn't slow nearly as much as we think. At every age, from 18 to 68 in our data set, people vastly underestimated how much change they would experience over the next 10 years. We call this the "end of history" illusion. To give you an idea of the magnitude of this effect, you can connect these two lines, and what you see here is that 18-year-olds anticipate changing only as much as 50-year-olds actually do.
Now it's not just values. It's all sorts of other things. For example, personality. Many of you know that psychologists now claim that there are five fundamental dimensions of personality: neuroticism, openness to experience, agreeableness, extraversion, and conscientiousness. Again, we asked people how much they expected to change over the next 10 years, and also how much they had changed over the last 10 years, and what we found, well, you're going to get used to seeing this diagram over and over, because once again the rate of change does slow as we age, but at every age, people underestimate how much their personalities will change in the next decade.
And it isn't just ephemeral things like values and personality. You can ask people about their likes and dislikes, their basic preferences. For example, name your best friend, your favorite kind of vacation, what's your favorite hobby, what's your favorite kind of music. People can name these things. We ask half of them to tell us, "Do you think that that will change over the next 10 years?" and half of them to tell us, "Did that change over the last 10 years?" And what we find, well, you've seen it twice now, and here it is again: people predict that the friend they have now is the friend they'll have in 10 years, the vacation they most enjoy now is the one they'll enjoy in 10 years, and yet, people who are 10 years older all say, "Eh, you know, that's really changed."
Does any of this matter? Is this just a form of mis-prediction that doesn't have consequences? No, it matters quite a bit, and I'll give you an example of why. It bedevils our decision-making in important ways. Bring to mind right now for yourself your favorite musician today and your favorite musician 10 years ago. I put mine up on the screen to help you along. Now we asked people to predict for us, to tell us how much money they would pay right now to see their current favorite musician perform in concert 10 years from now, and on average, people said they would pay 129 dollars for that ticket. And yet, when we asked them how much they would pay to see the person who was their favorite 10 years ago perform today, they say only 80 dollars. Now, in a perfectly rational world, these should be the same number, but we overpay for the opportunity to indulge our current preferences because we overestimate their stability.
Why does this happen? We're not entirely sure, but it probably has to do with the ease of remembering versus the difficulty of imagining. Most of us can remember who we were 10 years ago, but we find it hard to imagine who we're going to be, and then we mistakenly think that because it's hard to imagine, it's not likely to happen. Sorry, when people say "I can't imagine that," they're usually talking about their own lack of imagination, and not about the unlikelihood of the event that they're describing.
The bottom line is, time is a powerful force. It transforms our preferences. It reshapes our values. It alters our personalities. We seem to appreciate this fact, but only in retrospect. Only when we look backwards do we realize how much change happens in a decade. It's as if, for most of us, the present is a magic time. It's a watershed on the timeline. It's the moment at which we finally become ourselves. Human beings are works in progress that mistakenly think they're finished. The person you are right now is as transient, as fleeting and as temporary as all the people you've ever been. The one constant in our life is change.
Thank you.
Know yourself, what do we first do? Of course, believe in self, I think we must know this truth, but believe in yourself what?
Believe in the self, is to believe in their own ability and potential, believe in their own right and strength, believe that through their own efforts can be successful. Self-confidence and not self-esteem, the first step to understand themselves.
But self-confidence is not proud, proud to see their own weaknesses, but also do not see the strengths of others. So, how can we be a self-confident?
Self-confidence, should be right to look at others and their own, both to use their own strengths to inspire their own confidence, but also with a short position to alert themselves not proud, to take the long,
Say that people should be self-esteem self-esteem, and should not self-esteem self-abandonment. He, people also; to, people also. Can i be, and i can not be
Life is always a general art, each person's life history is his own works. What is the material, what is the use of what. If it is a radish, it is necessary to make a water more meat crisp radish; if it is cabbage, and strive to be a porcelain porcelain real heart of cabbage.
Remember, lack of confidence is not because of difficulties, and difficulties arise because of lack of confidence.
In fact, each of us should have such confidence: people can bear the responsibility, I will be able to bear; people can not bear the responsibility, I can tender negative!
